How To Connect Your Camera And Import Photos To Your iPad Using An iPad Camera Connection Kit
When my wife and I packed it in for a year and travelled the world, we wanted to travel light. So we bought an iPad as our main computing device. It worked like a charm, allowing us to use Email to stay in touch, book flights online and keep a detailed blog of our adventures.
We also brought along our portable Canon Powershot S95 camera for taking photos. The dilemma was — how do we get all our great shots off the camera, make edits and adjustments and then post them on our blog with only our iPad and no access to a laptop?
The answer was an iPad Camera Connection Kit.
The iPad Camera Connection Kit consists of a sturdy 8-Pin adapter that plugs into the Lightning port of your iPad or iPad Mini. On the other end are ports for connecting your camera via a USB cable or directly inserting the camera’s SD or microSD card.
When your camera is connected via USB or the SD card is inserted into the connection kit, your iPad will automatically launch the Cameras pane in the Photos app and display thumbnails of all the photos on your camera.
Simply tap Import All to import all your pics or tap specific images and then select Import. Your photos will begin transferring directly to the iPad. When completed, you’ll have the option to Keep or Delete the imported photos on the camera or your SD card.
You can then use Apple’s iPhoto app or another third party photo editing app like Snapseed to tweak your photos, post them on your blog or Facebook or Email them along to waiting friends and family.
4XEM offers two Camera Connection Kit options for the new 8-Pin Lightning iPad and iPad Mini. Our Camera Connection & Card Reader For iPad & iPad Mini offers all three options outlined above for connecting your camera — USB, SD and SD Micro.
